The Park View Middle School Band Program prides itself on providing a comprehensive instrumental music education.
Curricular Program
7th Grade Band and Percussion Ensemble
7th grade band builds on the fundamental skills developed by students in the elementary band program. In this course, students rehearse separately as winds (woodwinds/brass) and percussion. This approach allows instruction to be specifically tailored to each section's unique needs to best develop individual and ensemble musicianship.

Students are required to have participated in Elementary Band to join in 7th grade and will play the instrument they performed on during their 6th grade year. Regular practice is an expectation of students.
7th Grade Band Members perform in three concerts each year and have the opportunity to audition for the PVMS Jazz Ensemble, Blue2 Winds & Percussion, and local/state honor bands.

8th Grade Band and Percussion Ensemble

8th grade band provides an upper level band experience. Like in 7th grade, students rehearse separately as winds (woodwinds/brass) and percussion.

Students are required to have participated in 7th Grade Band to join. Regular practice is an expectation of students.
8th Grade Band Members perform in three concerts each year and have the opportunity to audition for the PVMS Jazz Ensemble, Marching Band, Blue2 Winds & Percussion, and local/state honor bands.

These offerings are designed to broaden students' musical horizons through performance in non-concert band ensembles.
Marching Band
A competitive, travelling ensemble, Marching Band is a curricular ensemble that meets after school and on weekends. Students perform throughout Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota, as a part of their competition schedule. Students can participate in one of three sections: Winds, Percussion and Guard. This ensemble is open to students in grades 8-12 and is non-auditioned, although students must have consent of the instructor to join. Blue2 Winds
Blue2 Winds is a chamber ensemble experience with options for students to perform in like and flexible instrumentation choirs. The goal of this ensemble is to develop independence in musicianship and build a strong wind culture across our middle and high school band programs. Blue2 Winds is an extracurricular ensemble that meets Saturdays during the day throughout the late winter/Spring. This program is open to MASD students in 7th-12th grade. Blue2 Percussion
Designed to complement our fall program, Blue2 Winterguard prepares younger students for the rigor of the marching arts while further developing and expanding the skills of experienced marchers. Blue2 Winterguard is an extracurricular ensemble that meets Saturdays during the day throughout the winter/early Spring. This program is open to MASD students in 7th-12th grade. PVMS Jazz Ensemble
Jazz Ensemble is an extracurricular ensemble within the band program. This ensemble teaches students the fundamentals of jazz performance and develops students on secondary "jazz specific" instruments. Students participate in 3 concerts each year and regularly collaborate with the MHS Jazz Ensemble.

This ensemble rehearses after school on Mondays and Thursdays starting in late Fall. Auditions for this ensemble occur in early Fall. Students must be enrolled in the PVMS Band Program to participate in Jazz Ensemble (exceptions: bassists enrolled in Orchestra/consent of the instructor).
